About Us

Located in the gently rolling hills of northwest Illinois, and a stone's throw from the historic Stage Coach Trail, that once led from Chicago to Galena, sits our small family farm. Here we raise llamas, sheep, goats and angora rabbits. The wonderful sheep and goats provide us with beautiful wool and the goats also provide us with the high quality milk we use to make goat milk soap.

This setting is a wonderful inspiration to live simply in this modern world and to create useful and decorative items for your home and ours. Prairie Harvest Arts is a dream in the making. Here on our small organic farm we raise rare breed animals (genetic diveristy). We love this piece of land and do our best to be the stewards of the land as we should be. We do not use any herbicides or pesticides. Our labor is greater, but so are the rewards.

As everyone on a family farm knows, it is a labor of love and everyone must work together or it just doesn't work. When it is cold or windy or the storms are moving in, the livestock must be tended to. My children and I work very hard to make this farm work. In the evening, we settle down and I paint, sew or plan for the next day. The younger members of the family study or work to create various, useful items for your home and ours. One son just finished a beautiful tapestry loom for me based on medieval sketches. Looking forward to putting it to work with some of our wool.
Come back as visit us often. I will be changing photos with the seasons and our chores. It is a wonderful way of life and we are thankful we are here and living it.
