Herd of Primitive sheared sheep ornies

All winter long my sheep are kept close to the house. Seeing them in their full wool and actually looking cozy in the weather, makes me appreciate them. I created these sheep to look like they have been sheared, as usually happens in March. Their beautiful wool, gone,(stored away in my home for future use) they look sleek and much smaller that they do in the winter.

These have been made from a white on white cotton print. It gives the sheared sheep some dimension and shading, though their wool is gone.  Their ears are made from muslin, as there is a difference in appearance on real sheep, between the body wool and their ears. The hang tags on them represent important years in the history of my family. They are years when a homestead was started or other significant date.

The herd most closely represents my clun forest sheep. The ram, with twig legs, stands guard over the herd. I had to put a ram in the herd in honor of our ram, Rambo. I will let you be creative on how he got that name. (?!!!!? )

They have been aged in a mixture of coffee and vanilla and then rubbed with cinnamon and baked for that wonderful prim look.
