Vintage Give Thanks Stitchery

This is truly a unique item. When an auction occurs at an old family farm, I usually try to be there--to find treasures from the past. At such an auction I found this stitchery that shows the signs of age so well. It is done in a combination of cross stitch and others stitches and says "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread." The colors are subtle muted golds, browns, tans, soft-almost celery green and a touch of turquoise or a robin's egg blue on the tie around the wheat. There is an uncut round loaf of bread, a traditional loaf of bread that has been sliced, a bundle of tied wheat and a rolling pin. The fabric looks like it has either aged naturally or has been tea stained. It is truly a vintage look. I painted the frame black, sanded it and waxed it to compliment the beautiful handwork it frames. It measures 24 inches wide and 11 inches tall.
